Roy’s Junior Footy is here!
AFL Queensland have re-branded the Under 6 program, so it now has an exciting new name and connection to the Brisbane Lions. The program will now be called Roy’s Junior Footy and we are extremely excited that the Brisbane Lions are a partner.
The structure of the program hasn’t changed; your child will still take part in their session each week which will include a 15 minute warm up/skills component and most importantly, it will include their modified game.
The purpose of the program is to provide your child with a fun, safe and positive AFL experience. We do this through a well-structured program that considers the maturity level of their motor, cognitive, social and emotional skills.
The emphasis is on game specific skills (kicking, handballing, marking and bouncing) while introducing them to match play and positioning (forwards, centres and backs).
We want you to become a part of history as one of the first participants of Roy’s Junior Footy!
Now for the important information!
How much does it cost?
The program fees will be split in to:
- A state registration fee ($75) if you register for Auskick
- A club season fee – FREE for FALCONS! (if you register for Auskick)
How do I register and become a part of history?
To register for both NAB AFL Auskick and Roy’s Junior Footy Program, head to www.aflauskick.com.au
I’m writing to introduce myself and the current committee for the Fassifern Falcons as elected at Wednesday night’s AGM.
President- Charlie Thomson
Vice President- Troy Greenwell
Secretary- Halie Hornby
Treasurer- Amanda Bird
Fundraising Coordinator – Matt Murray
Youth Advocate – Emily Greenwell
Masters Delegate – Pat O’Neill
Promotion Support- Carey Burt
Committee members- Jemima Greenwell, Ray Streeting and Dale Simmons
As a newly appointed president, it was great to see so many people passionate about the club at the AGM on Wednesday. However, it’s important that we follow up our words with actions in the coming months. The success of the following year will be determined by what we achieve and I feel we have an excellent team that can ensure our club continues to progress. Undoubtedly, there will be many challenges ahead, but I believe if we work together, we can achieve some great things for the club and the wider community. I’d also like to welcome members both new and old for what I hope will be an exciting year for the club.
I’d like to acknowledge the great work of past and present committee members, who have created an excellent club, culture and reputation within the community.
As I have mentioned in a previous letter, football clubs, like all community groups, can have a significant impact on young people, families and the wider community. Over 20 years ago Matt Murray and I both played for the Burleigh Bombers Football Club. I’m sure neither of us would have thought then that we would be playing in the same team two decades later in a totally different area. We still reminisce about the club, the coaches, the players and the valuable lessons and values we learnt from our time playing junior football. Football clubs can change lives and set young people up for the future by educating them about various aspects of life. In this team, we learnt the value of teamwork, fun, training hard and working together as a community. I am hopeful that other young people and families in the Fassifern will be able to continue to share similar positive experiences at the Falcons.
As a parent, I have enjoyed watching three of my children being involved with the Falcons teams and Auskick programs. As an individual, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing in the Masters team this year and getting to know the great people involved with the club.
There are currently some committee positions vacant in the areas of:
-Coaching coordinator (must be a coach, part of executive)
-Grants, sponsor & community relationships officer
-Kids First Officer
If you would like to be involved, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
You will soon be sent a survey so we can hear your valuable feedback on the club to help us improve and progress. There will also be some exciting fundraising and community events coming soon, so stay tuned!
Thanks and Carn’ the Falcons!
